Pluto, the god of the dead and the hidden wealth of the earth, had two brothers, Neptune and Jupiter. When their father Saturn died they split up the world between themselves; Neptune getting the seas, Jupiter getting the skies, and Pluto getting the Earth. Pluto had an invisible helmet, a golden chariot, and a 10ft tall three-headed dog, Cerberus. Cerberus was a 10ft tall, three-headed hellhound to be the King of the Hellhounds. Hellhounds were like an army of dark spirits that were a mix between a lion, tiger, and hyena. Hellhounds could also shadow travel, which was teleportation by traveling down to the underworld and the coming back up in a completely different place of their choice.
Pluto has a total of five siblings; Neptune, Jupiter, Juno, Ceres, and Vesta. A long time ago Pluto wanted a wife so he consulted Jupiter, who gave him Proserpina, daughter of Ceres. Pluto gave Proserpina a magical pomegranate seed as a welcoming gift. When Ceres found out of this she was furious and caused a huge dearth over the planet until her daughter was returned to her. Jupiter was then forced to bring Proserpina back to the surface. However, since she ate the pomegranate seed, Proserpina had to return to Pluto for half of each year to be his wife. Ceres then created winter in her grief.
When people died they were buried with a coin so they could pay Charon, the ferryman of the acid river, The River Styx. After crossing the river the spirits had to pass Cerberus, who would only let the dead through. Then the spirits would have to stand in front of the Judges of the Dead where they would find out where they would spend the rest of eternity, in the fields of death (hell) or in the great village of the underworld (heaven). After the spirits who went to the great village spent some time in the underworld, Pluto would help guide them through reincarnation.
