Hera is daughter of Cronus and Rhea, and has five siblings; Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Demeter, and Hestia. When her brothers split up the world between themselves her sister, Hestia, was completely thrown aside and not allowed into the Council of Thirteen because she was simply the goddess of the hearth. Hera was the Greek Goddess of marriage, women, and childbirth and she took great care of married woman.
A long time ago Hera was tricked into doing something horrible (you don't want to know) with Zeus (her brother) and then was forced to marry him out of pity. Hera and Zeus had many children including Ares and Hephaestus, part of the Council. Although Zeus had a lot of children, Hera only birthed a two so she was very jealous of the other women that Zeus had affairs with. Sometimes Hera's revenge on the other women ended up giving them a curse or even burning their towns down. As you can tell, Hera was extremely jealous and petty with the other gods.
Hera's main symbol and weapon is the Lotus flower staff, which she is usually depicted with (as seen above). It is very powerful and can be used to curse people. Hera's sacred animals are the peacock and the cow.
