Mars is the Roman God of War and he loves seeing bloodshed. He was a very mean and self-centered god who loved killing for fun. Animals that are sacred to him are the vulture and the wolf. He has a temple called Mars Ultor dedicated to him and a huge three-day festival called the Armilustrium on October 19th.
Mars is son of Jupiter and Juno and has a brother, Vulcan. His other half siblings are Minerva, twins Diana and Apollo, Venus, Mercury, and Bacchus. Although Venus is married to Vulcan, she is also married to Mars and had seven children with him. Mars' companion, Discordia the Goddess of disagreement, is with him at all times. Discordia is also the leader of his other friends, the spirits of Pain, Panic, Famine, and Oblivion.
Mars is the most worshipped of all of the Olympians and has many temples and festivals dedicated to him. He is also arguably the most prominent God, even more than Jupiter or Juno. He is often described riding a chariot in full battle armor with a huge army behind him. He is depicted in many ways but usually with a spear of some sort.
