Neptune, the god of the sea, had two brothers, Jupiter and Pluto. When their father Saturn died they split up the world between themselves; Jupiter getting the skies, Pluto getting the Earth, and Neptune getting the seas. The Romans were terrified of Neptune and thought he was very moody because he didn't answer their prayers very often. Neptune did have a violent temper and created tempests and earthquakes when he was angry. Neptune had a festival dedicated to him called the Neptunalia held on July 23rd.
Neptune had a total of five siblings; Jupiter, Pluto, Juno, Ceres, and Vesta. At one time, Neptune was falling for Ceres but now he is married to Amphitrite, a water nymph. Amphitrite and Neptune had a single son named Triton; The planet Neptune and its moon Triton were named after these two gods. Amphitrite rules the seas when Neptune is away being the Roman God of the sea.
Neptune has an amazingly powerful Trident that he has with him at all times. This Trident is second to only Jupiter's Thunderbolt in power. Neptune is usually depicted with his Trident in his hand. Neptune also created the horse and pegasus and there is an army of pegasus that come to his children's aid when they are needed.
