Dionysus is the Greek God of wine, parties, festivals, and theatre. Dionysus was a later addition to the Olympians and in some descriptions replaced Hestia. One of Dionysus' main powers was to shape shift and he normally shapeshifts into dolphins, snakes, and donkeys, which are animals sacred to him.
Dionysus was son of Zeus and Semele; his half siblings were Ares, Hephaestus, Athena, Hermes, twins Apollo and Artemis, and Aphrodite. He is married to the spirit, Ariadne and they have six children. Since his mother was a mortal he had to be granted immortality by Zeus, his father. Dionysus' name came from Nysa, the mountain he was raised on.
Dionysus carried a Thyrsos which is a staff covered in wine leaves. He was often accompanied by satyrs. He invented wine using grapes. The only God with a mortal parent. He has a total of 13 children.
